Andorra prepares new measures to expand the supply of affordable rental housing

The Andorran real estate market continues to be one of the central issues of the country's current affairs. In this context, the Government has announced new measures aimed at expanding the supply of affordable rental housing.

According to information published by Ràdio SER Principat d'Andorra, the Minister of Housing, Conxita Marsol, explained that the Executive plans to open a call for owners to offer buildings on a long-term rental basis. These properties could be integrated into the public stock for periods that could reach up to 30 years.

This measure is in addition to the tender already promoted by the Government to acquire entire buildings and allocate them to affordable rental housing. This tender has an initial endowment of 21.6 million euros, with the possibility of extension, according to the information published by the Government of Andorra itself.

In addition, the Executive is also working on a bill to encourage the private construction of buildings for affordable rent. Among the planned measures is a subsidy of 10% of the construction cost, linked to standard prices to be set by the Government.

For the real estate sector, these initiatives reflect the importance of finding a balance between the need for residential housing, the legal certainty of owners and the natural evolution of the market. In a country with limited supply and sustained demand, any measure that increases the number of available homes can have a significant impact on access to housing.
